1. What services do you provide?
Blue Turtle Video specialise in converting video tape into DVD format. You may have a home movie on camcorder tape or a special event such as a wedding on VHS tape. We transfer your video and create a DVD of the highest quality.
The website has been designed to list the various services which we provide across the top left of the page. General services, advice and information appear across the top right of the page. Please also feel free to contact us via email or telephone if you would prefer.
3. What if I don't know which kind of tapes I have?
Because we charge the same competitive rates regardless of which videotape format or the duration of the tape you don't need to worry if you don't know what you have. Just tell us how many tapes you wish to convert and we'll get to work on producing the DVDs.
Our pricing is very competitive and we can offer you even better rates the greater number of tapes which you send for transfer to DVD. For full details please see our Video Transfer Pricing.
Ordering is simple using our secure on-line payments facility. Alternatively you may choose to pay by cheque or postal order - simply send an email or enclose a note when you send your tapes. Full details of how to order click here
6. What is the best way of sending my tapes to you?
It is of course very important that your tapes arrive safely. For this reason we recommend Royal Mail Special Delivery which is tracked at every stage. Alternatively we can arrange for a courier to collect from your house or place of work. For full details and costs please see here.
From receipt of the tapes we will normally process them within 5 working days. Leadtimes may be extended at very busy times or during holiday periods. For up-to-date processing times please refer to the box on the right-hand side of this page. When your discs are dispatched back out to you we will let you know by email.
8. Do I pay anything extra for delivery?
Delivery of your DVDs as well as return of your original tapes is included in the price you pay for conversion of each tape.
9. I would like to discuss something - how may I contact you?
We are very happy to answer any questions which you may have. Please either send us an email or phone us on 0800 6125 145.
10. What processes do you use to transfer the video onto DVD?
- First of all we use high-quality playback equipment to capture your film onto computer.
- For digital film a high-speed data link is used which - in connection with specialist hardware in our computers - this ensures that the video is transferred smoothly without any loss of quality.
- For analogue tapes we follow the same process with an additional step of digitally re-mastering your film which is required for production of the DVD.
- As part of the DVD production process "chapters" are added to your film at regular intervals. These allow for easy navigation back and forth through your material.
- A DVD menu is created which will display when the DVD is inserted into your player. This allows you to choose to play the whole film or select certain scenes.
- We use an appropriate scene shot from your film to create a label for the disc and covers for your DVD box. If you prefer to simply display a title or arrange this in a different way please just let us know.
- The boxed DVD is posted back to you ready to enjoy with friends and family.
11. Do you transfer copyrighted commercial films?
It is not permitted to transfer copyright material without the permission of the owner. Therefore we can't normally process commercial cinematic films. However, there are a couple of ways we could still help.
Firstly, we have an established route to import rare DVDs from the USA and would be happy to advise on availability and cost of your desired title.
Secondly, for unobtainable DVDs it may be possible to secure permission from the publisher for a transfer - again, just let us know the details and we will do what we can to help.
